Rubaga Sports Day 2010

The division of Rubaga holds sports activities/events in the first and second term of the year. There, all schools engage and participate in events with the aim of developing the children’s talents and skills in addition to academics. They also aim at selecting a skilled team from various schools to compete in the other levels like the zonal level, division level, district and national level.

The activities that they are engaged in are athletics, football for both girls and boys, netball, volleyball among others. During the first term, Rubaga zone organized athletics, which were held on the 18th March 2010. Many different schools within Rubaga always practice for that Sports day to come. After that completion, a team, which will be selected will proceed to the next level (division level) and thereby a final team to represent the division will also be chosen.

This term, we participated in athletics, throws, discuss and javelin. However, during the second term we engage in football, netball and volleyball. So the children are practiced daily to look fit for at the competition. The best students are awarded in form of certificates, sponsorships and scholarships as well as trophies.

Athletics competitions held on 18th March 2010 at Nabagereka Primary School

The competitions comprised of only five schools of which our school was among. This was a low attendance and it was assumed that some schools were under fear due to the then saga of the Kasubi tombs fire, which affected the arrangements.

We engaged in activities like athletics, which comprised of several different distances and also field events like short put. However, some events were not carried out such as javelin, discuss, throwing due to lack of equipments as well as the limited funds to facilitate the competition.

Rubaga Community School emerged the first in short put for both the girls and boys, 400 races, 100 m races and therefore some of our students were selected to represent Rubaga zone to the next level competitions which took place on 23rd March 2010 at Wankuluku stadium.
